Travis County Care First is a 501(c)(3) corporation. We are the non-profit sister organization to the Travis County Child Protective Services Board. We raise charitable funds for children and families involved in the local child welfare system.
When public funding isn’t enough, Travis County Care First steps in—making sure the children in our community’s care have what they need to thrive and grow.

History
Travis County Care First (TCCF) was officially launched in 2024 as the successor to Capital Area Safe Kids Fund (a d/b/a for Children's Protective Assistance, Inc.). Like TCCF, Safe Kids was a nonprofit that primarily supported the mission of the Travis County Children’s Protective Services Board. Through Safe Kids, gaps were filled for items or services needed by children in the foster care system that the state or county could not fund, professional trainings for CPS caseworkers were paid for, and foster care staff were honored and acknowledged in small ways to increase retention and morale among outstanding workers.
TCCF pivoted to its new name after it was decided that “Safe Kids” was being confused with “Safe Kids Austin,” a community coalition led by Dell Children's Medical Center that is dedicated to preventing childhood injuries.
TCCF’s mission remains the same — to support children, families and staff in the Travis County child welfare system.
